| Drawing on many years of experience and expertise in the field of anti-inflammatory and analgesic plasters, development work at Teikoku Seiyaku is now proceeding in two directions. The first focuses on new products employing transdermal (through the skin) absorption technology, which is an offshoot of our specialty in medicated plasters. The general conception is that medication is taken orally, but some medications are best delivered transdermally, to minimize adverse reaction. As experts in transdermal absorption technology, we feel that such products have great potential for a wide variety of applications. Our second area of product development is in pain-relief products. MS-Twicelon Capsule, a sustained-release morphine sulfate product, became available in 2001. Only a small number of companies worldwide are licensed to manufacture narcotic drugs. Teikoku Seiyaku is one of only nine such companies in Japan. |
